Stories Pure and Impure
Join Peter Marlton, writer, musician, public defender, and former New York City cab driver, as he dives deep into a fun and intellectually robust journey into the essence and nature of stories and the effect they can have on us, from the most transient to something life-changing. These stories include what we see in film, TV, theater and the other usual suspects, as well as those we tell ourselves and each other. Guests include other podcasters, writers, lawyers who tell stories in trial, and many more. Whether any of these stories is "pure" or "impure" doesn't matter. The point is to have a good time! Episodes drop every other week beginning February 5, 2025.
Stories Pure and Impure
Episode 1: Featuring Purely Impure Writer of the Day, Colette!
Peter Marlton, writer, musician, public defender, and former New York City cab driver, introduces this new podcast by making the brazen statement that the words "pure" and "impure" are fluid and open to just about any interpretation. The idea is to have fun, entertaining conversations about stories, meaning literature, film, theater, etc., but equally important, dreams, and stories we hear and tell throughout our days. This should illuminate questions about the nature of stories, why we need them and whether and how they might change us. The great French writer Colette is the "Purely Impure Writer of the Day." A fake Garrison Keillor will appear with a Writer's Almanac about her (with facts!), followed by a quick anecdotal story from Pete's cab driving days. Episodes of Stories Pure and Impure will drop every other Wednesday. Check here for updates.
